Utsuwa no Osawa

Utsuwa no Osawa is a specialty store for tableware that offers a wide variety of items, from “hobby tableware” to “commercial tableware”. Founded in 1902 (Meiji era), it has been in business for a long time and offers a wide variety of tableware, including Japanese and Western ceramics, glassware, lacquerware, and commercial tableware.

The founder, Sawajiro Hayashi, was a carpenter by trade and dealt in building materials and daily necessities as a side job. It would be like a home improvement center today, but many customers unknowingly called it “Osawa” instead of “Daizawa”, which means “The Carpenter Sawajiro”
